21-Year Reunion

Postby cathyfudge » Wed Nov 15, 2006 12:51 pm

How do all of you feel about a 21-Year Reunion? I would be willing to try & get something coordinated, maybe for Spring 2007. I am so sorry that I missed our 10 year.

If you've got e-mail address for our classmates, please send them my way: cfhowe@gfb.org.

It sure would be good to get together!

Take care, bug-hug, kiss-on-the cheek (I really like this Paul),

My suspicion is that if folks can't be bothered for a 20-year reunion... what are the chances of a 21-year?

That said, I'm all for it. :)

Reunion

Postby cathyfudge » Thu Nov 16, 2006 5:54 pm

I'd be willing to try & put something together. I don't know who tried last year, but maybe with several folks working together we could make it happen. There are so many people that I'd like to see, including you Paulie! It does seem overwhelming to try to do it by yourself.

Do you ever hear from Sean or TL? Are they still around?

Sure, Sean is still here in town. He's married w/ two stepchildren who are pretty much "grown", albeit still living with him. ;-) He's been working for Ecolab for over ten years now and he does ok. He's not Internet-active or I'd let him speak for himself.

If you look through the thread about Mrs. Pierce, you'll see where TL has shown up here before. I don't know if he ever reads this any more, but I see and talk to him pretty regularly, also. He's another geek-type like me, and sometimes we find ourselves at the same house doing geek-stuff. Hopefully he'll come along and fill you in on anything else!

Re-uning

Postby Brian Hite » Fri Nov 17, 2006 10:25 am

I was talking with Rick Hill yesterday, and he brought up a 21-year reunion. What about trying to find out about the Class of '87's reunion and joining them? My bet is that they'll do something. I'm kind of embarrassed about our class. Even the class of '85 had a reunion, and you know what slackers they were. :D Before anyone reads that and gets offended, I slacked along with many of them.

Reunion

Postby Shelli » Tue Nov 28, 2006 12:43 pm

OK Ya'll... I was the one "in charge" (kinda) 10 yrs ago for the 10th reunion, and had been working on getting some people together for the reunion this year (Carol Mickens and Martin Jackson had said they would help me). But then when I was trying to get it started, I was told that Denise Honeycutt and Carolyn Larry had said they were going to try to put something together, so I just let the ball drop. My apologies, cause we really should have had something this year. If we have enough people willing to work on a 21 yr reunion, I will be more than willing to help with it. Just let me know!!

It's so sad to say that I've been around Perry since school with the exception of 3 yrs that I lived almost in Warner Robins, but was still in Perry a lot, and I hardly EVER run in to anyone.

The reunion thing for next year sounds good, but another thought is too that if we can get the word out about this place (sorry i didn't know about it for so long), and try to get one of those internet group meetings together... But the best thing about that is we all know each other!! I don't think anyone has turned into an axe murderer since school... have they????

Oh yeah, my sister said she saw Mark Holloway at the Central/Perry game as he came in the gate, and got to talk to him a minute, but I never did get a chance to go try to find him. I try to go to several games each year, but still don't see a whole lot of "old" faces...

Hey, Shelli!

Postby Brian Hite » Tue Nov 28, 2006 12:54 pm

First off, you did a GREAT job with the 10th anniversary, and no one could possibly blame you for not having a 20th. That's a ton of work, and I'm sure the pay is hardly worth it. :D

I like your idea about trying to get people to come to this site to communicate. We could try to hammer out some dates for a possible reunion.

I did call Thomas Croom and ask him to let me know if he hears anything about the class of '87 getting together.

I was through Perry last Friday on my way to see Robby Cosey, and it was a trip down memory lane. Robby and I laughed at memories of hanging out behind Hardee's and such.

That's funny, because Carolyn Larry lives next door to me. :-)

I do remember her asking me once if I knew how to get in touch with anybody for a reunion, and I told her everything I knew at the time. Other than that, I don't remember much about reunion talk, except the odd times I would run into someone and they'd ask if it was happening. I didn't know if there'd be an actual reunion, and really wasn't concerned about it at the time, so I would say that I didn't know and shrug my shoulders.

Anyway, Carolyn has signed up here and I expect her to chime in at any moment. :-) I hope that I'm not out of turn in saying that she recently expressed great frustration about the whole thing, as nobody seemed interested enough to attend meetings about the event. Apparently she went to great lengths, and was finally met with indifference.

My own feeling is that a forum online, such as this one, may provide a reunion of sorts... without any expense (time or otherwise). Or at least enough of a reunion to suffice until 2011... 25 years... man, y'all are gettin' old!!

Just a thought! :-þ

...

Postby Shelli » Mon Dec 04, 2006 9:37 am

I sure hate to hear that she was trying but didn't get a response... I had tried to get in touch with her through McDonalds when she was working there... But unfortunately I never seemed to call or be in there at the right time. Then I went in one night, and they told me she had gone to work at Frito-Lay. So after that, I just gave up. I sure would (as I'm sure the ones I had talked to) would have been willing to help... Sorry Carolyn!!! When we do get a chance to get something together, I sure will be more than willing to help out with anything I can, just let me know!

Yea Paul... They sure are gettin' old!! :D

Shelli, if we can get something together and you need my help, you know where I am. I was really looking forward to the reunion this year.

I'm still around, Cathy.

I'm still here. I have a son, Noah, who will be 6 in Feb. and a daughter, Emma who is two weeks old today! Unfortunately, my divorce will be final this month sometime.

Here is Emma:

Hey TL!!!!

Great to "see" you TL!! Long time no see, or talk to or anything!! Sorry to hear about the divorce, but I do have to say you have two BEAUTIFUL children!!

On the other note... Unfortunately with the job I have right now, I can't be the one to get something together, but I will be willing to help out when/where I can... And Paula, I'll let you know if I do hear anything about it!

Reunion help

Postby MichelleB » Fri Jan 12, 2007 10:23 pm

Hi! It sure is good to finally find some folks from the old school finally talking about plans for a reunion. If there is anything I can do to help, just let me know. I don't know how helpful I can be, I never see anyone, and I live two hours away, but I will do whatever you ask! I want to see this thing come together. My husband, Richard, is in the class of '87. Brian's idea of merging with them might not be so bad, two birds with one stone, or something like that. Stay in touch,

merging the two

Postby Brian Hite » Wed Mar 14, 2007 5:25 pm

I talked with Thomas Croom last week, and he hadn't heard anything (and had recently talked with Molly Gottschalk and Todd Ellis).

What if we just pick a weekend and meet Friday night at Burger King. I'm sure they miss us.
